Installing plugins
Plugins need a plugin-capable server type: Paper, Purpur or Spigot. Vanilla does not load plugins.
Switch to Paper (recommended)
- Stop the server.
- Panel → Startup → set the jar to
paper(or pick a Paper version). - Start the server. A
plugins/folder is created.
Paper is faster and has better plugin compatibility than Spigot.
Install a plugin
Method A — file manager (easiest)
- Download the plugin
.jar(SpigotMC, Modrinth, Hangar, GitHub Releases). - Panel → Files → open the
plugins/folder. - Upload the
.jar. - Restart the server.
Method B — SFTP
For many files, use SFTP (panel → Settings → SFTP Details):
bash
sftp user@node-xx.vexanode.gg -P 2022
put Plugin.jar plugins/Verify it loaded
Console should show:
[Server thread/INFO]: Loading server plugin Plugin v1.2.3If it does not, check the Logs tab for an error. Common causes:
- Wrong version (e.g. plugin built for 1.20 on a 1.21 server)
- A missing dependency plugin
- Java version mismatch
INFO
Folia, proxies (Velocity/BungeeCord) and Sponge have their own plugin rules — match the plugin to your server type.
